The information/reference desk is at the main desk on the 1st floor. The staff at the desk assists patrons with information gathering in relation to studies, jobs or hobbies.
Most, if not all, of our staff speak very good english.
It is of course open for everybody and the staff also assists with the research process and utilizing library resources.
One computer is located in front of the information desk, under the stairs to the 2nd floor, where people can browse through Encyclopedia Britannica, Gegnir - the library system and www.hvar.is, which is the Icelandic countrywide access portal to electronic databases and e-journals. Like it says on the website: "It is the Iceland Consortia for e-subscriptions' website." - Two similar computers are also on the second floor.
You can also contact the library through emails to bokasafn@akureyri.is or by telephone +354 460-1250, and ask for the information/reference desk if you have a specific inquiry.
This service is free of charge, but photocopies and printouts cost 35 IKR per page. The general rule should always be: "It is better to ask, then not to ..."
