Location
There is a specific department for children
(located on the 2nd floor) and a specific one for teenagers (located on the 1st floor). The teenagers' department was relatively recently moved from the 2nd floor to the 1st floor, since teenagers
are big part of our guests and they are often hanging out at the library, reading books and chatting. They needed to get a better space. The children's department has grown over the years and the
general consensus is that people really like it.
Collection
In both departments you will find some books in other languages than Icelandic (mainly English, but also in languages from the Nordic countries and Eastern Europe, for example). During winter season there are reading hours for the youngest ones and also reading circles for the a bit older ones. Movies and music for children are located in the department on the second floor. And also general family entertainment movies as well. Books in Icelandic are sorted out alphabetically by authors' names but there are also specific shelves for the younger kids.
